2009 IBM Charity Golf Day and the Cerebral Palsy League
Cirrus Australia participates annually in the IBM Charity Golf Day, which in 2009 raised a total of $20,000 for the Cerebral Palsy League. This year, Cirrus invited PGA golf pro Gene Saunders to show everyone how the game is really played!
Cirrus Australia also sponsors the Heritage Golf Day, which supports from five to ten different charities each year. In 2009, the event raised money for Fresh Hope, Riding for the Disabled, YWCA, Breakaway and Lifeline.

Cirrus Australia – a partner of Social Enterprise Hubs Australia
Cirrus Australia’s CEO, Darren Phillips has been a partner of Social Enterprise Hubs, an initiative of Social Ventures Australia for the last four years. Established in 2006, its key objectives are to support the development of the social enterprise sector in Australia and to engage all sectors of the community with social enterprises. http://www.socialenterprisehubs.org/
Through Social Enterprise Hubs Australia, Darren Phillips has mentored two companies:
- Blackstar Coffee http://www.blackstarcoffee.com.au/
- Charity Computers. http://www.charitycomputersbrisbane.com/
The objective in mentoring these companies is to provide them with access to resources that would not otherwise be available or affordable, including mentoring, consulting, pro bono services, management tools and business skills.
Charity Computers is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to ‘break the digital divide’ by offering low cost access to equipment to concession card holders, single parents, the unemployed, seniors, people with disabilities, carers, low income families and students.
Blackstar Coffee produces fair trade single origin coffees and as a company aims to generate income and small business opportunities for people from disadvantaged backgrounds - such as non English speaking, Indigenous and at risk young people.
